Bragg Creek

On the edge of Kananaskis Country, situated amidst the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, sits the quaint and largely rural community of Bragg Creek.

This beguiling hamlet is located only 44 km (27 mi) west of Calgary along scenic Highway 8 and attracts many visitors, who come for the vibrant arts community, unique shopping opportunities, freshly baked pies and gorgeous scenery.

Bragg Creek includes; the Hamlet of Bragg Creek, West Bragg Creek, Wintergreen, South Bragg Creek and Redwood Meadows. South Bragg Creek forms a part of the Foothills Municipal District No.31 The other areas lie within the Rockyview Municipal District No.44 which is responsible for the administration of services and facilities. The Hamlet is not a registered town site and as such has no mayor, council or administration. Its centre features several small shops; some very unique, as well as houses on 14 streets. The Bragg Creek Centre is the venue where most of the local groups meet. It is equipped with an indoor/outdoor stage for performances and a dedicated craft room. It can accommodate an audience of up to 800 people. The Snowbirds Chalet also plays host to many local activities.

BRAGG CREEK

This is also a favourite destination from Calgary south along 22X, a pleasant 20 -25 minute drive. Many choose to pack a picnic and head to nearby Elbow Falls, where the Elbow River collides with the rocky slopes of the mountains to form an amazing natural spectacle.
